Deacons

2027 Crosspoint Deacons.

Chris Chan

I accepted Christ during college when I shared an apartment with 2 Christian classmates.  They invited me to campus fellowship, and there I experienced the loving grace of God.  I was baptized in 1996.
I began attending Crosspoint in 2008, around the time the Milpitas church building was purchased. It was a privilege to witness firsthand how God blessed the church through the permitting process and how the congregation united to achieve great things for His Kingdom.
Throughout my years at Crosspoint, I have served in the Worship Ministry. I feel truly blessed to serve alongside such faithful and talented brothers and sisters.
In late 2021, Pastor Chiu invited us to help plant the San Leandro campus. Since then, I have served as the praise team coordinator there. It has been wonderful to witness the explosive growth of the Cantonese congregation and the successful expansion into Mandarin and English services.

Derek Cheung

I accepted Christ in 1991, and joined Crosspoint Church as one of the building crews in 2000. I am currently serving in the GUM ministry at Milpitas Campus, and also a member of Crosspoint’s By-law Revision Committee.

Lora Chieng

Attending Crosspoint Church in 2004 marked a turning point in my life. Facing illness and death, God granted me new life, transforming my heart and the direction of my life. Through listening to sermons, learning Scripture, and meditating on God’s Word, I finally came to understand the unconditional love of Jesus Christ and the sacrifice He made for our sins on the cross. In December 2004, I was baptized and began a new life  walking with God at Crosspoint Church, my spiritual home.

Through serving in life group fellowship, youth ministry, and family ministry, I deeply experienced God’s presence.

My faith and spiritual life grew, drawing me into a closer relationship with Him. In the midst of serving, I also found the joy and abundance that comes from serving others.

Currently, I am involved in the Grow Ministry at the Milpitas campus to promote Bible courses, personal devotional life, and spiritual formation for the church members.

To be a deacon is not merely a title, but a real and weighty calling and responsibility. It requires faithful servitude, unity with the pastors for church ministries, harmony within the congregation, care for brothers and sisters with the love of Christ, support for those who are weak, and living out the Lord’s love.

Even though I strive to fulfill the calling of the Lord in my daily life, I am fully aware of my many shortcomings. Both in ability and in spiritual maturity, I recognize I am in constant need of growth. It is only by relying on the grace of the Lord that I can rise to meet this calling.

I pray that our Heavenly Father would grant me a heart of humility and faithfulness, guide us to build this spiritual home, and help us love one another to glorify His name.

Raymond Tang

My name is Raymond Tang, and I live with my wife, Connie Chiu, and our daughter, Amelia. I accepted Christ in 1991 following my father’s death from cancer. My father was an atheist; however, during the final moments of his life, he read many books related to religion and spirituality. He was seeking answers about what happens after death. Although I did not know then whether he found the answers he was looking for, I realized that if my father was searching for the meaning of life, I should not wait until old age to do the same. I felt I should start seeking those answers immediately.

That was when I first tried to pray to Jesus, asking Him to open a door for me as a seeker. I believe God had planned for my salvation even before my father’s passing. I met many good friends who were Christians at that time, and they brought me to church. That is how I came to know Jesus and His salvation. Shortly after my father’s death, I accepted Jesus into my life, joined a fellowship with my friends, and began attending worship services regularly.

After I graduated from university, I was baptized into a church family and began to serve God regularly. I feel a particular calling to teach Bible study. After Connie and I married, we began seeking a new church and found Crosspoint in 2009. I have been a Bible study teacher there ever since. Currently, Connie and I are members of the Pleasanton campus. Connie serves in the Children’s ministry while I lead Bible studies. I am honored to have been nominated as one of the church deacons. With your support and the unending guidance of the Holy Spirit, I hope to help grow the Pleasanton campus and strengthen our church body.

The Pleasanton campus has lost many church members since last year. I have a special calling from God to ensure our church remains a “Safe Place” for members—especially children—to grow spiritually. I believe God’s word is not just foundational knowledge, but a pathway and a light to lead our way to Him. As a Bible study teacher, I want to be a channel for bringing the word of truth from the Bible to everyone on the campus, so we can all know God a little more every day.

Cissy Wan

I accepted Christ in high school after my classmates invited me to an evangelical meeting in Hong Kong. At that time, I did not fully understand what it meant to follow Christ or what I truly believed. After immigrating to San Francisco, I joined a college fellowship and began learning more about God.

After Sam and I got married, we moved to Milpitas and found Crosspoint Church. We began attending Crosspoint and joined a couples group in 2004. What first began as a nearby church gradually became our second home and a place where I have experienced God’s faithfulness, guidance, and provision through serving.

Serving in the Children’s Ministry and later in the Youth Ministry at the Milpitas campus has deeply strengthened my faith and spiritual life. Through these opportunities, God has continued to teach me how to love, serve, and encourage others. I am currently serving on the Youth Committee team, supporting Pastor Caleb in helping students grow in their faith and relationship with Christ.

Phyllis Yau-Chan

I came to faith during my secondary school years, though I didn’t fully understand what I believed at the time.
After becoming a Christian, life transitions like further education, work, and immigration pulled me away from active church involvement.

Later, while living in Chicago, my children’s growth brought me back to church. During that season, God led our family step by step back into a spiritual rhythm.
When we moved from Chicago to California, I experienced God’s grace and protection in deeper ways. That season rekindled my pursuit of faith and my desire to serve.

I came from a previous church and found my home at Crosspoint. Since the Pleasanton campus was established, I’ve been part of this congregation, and I’m grateful to grow, learn, and serve alongside brothers and sisters here. My main areas of service are as a small group leader and in GUM.

I hold firmly to Matthew 6:33: “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.”

My hope is to continue serving faithfully in this church, as a response to God’s grace and leading.

Lawerence Yeung

I was born in Hong Kong, and my family did not have any religious beliefs. My first exposure to Christianity came through Scripture classes at school. During my teenage years, my main interests were Physics and Advanced Mathematics. My conviction was that science and religion did not mix well. Although I believed there was a God, I did not want to have any involvement with Him.

In 1985, my family and I immigrated to the United States. After graduating from university, I began working as a firmware engineer. During that time, I met a Christian colleague, and we had many conversations about Christianity. Through those discussions, I became interested in the Bible. After reading it, I became convinced that the God revealed in Scripture is the true God, the Creator of the universe, and I desired to follow Him.

On a very special occasion, I accepted Christ as my Savior. Because of my personal experience with the Bible, learning and obeying God’s Word has become my life goal. My wish is to be more Christ-like day by day. God also gave me the opportunity to receive seminary training so that I could better understand and interpret the Bible. This has been a precious journey for me, and I thank Him wholeheartedly for it.

I have attended Crosspoint since 2000 in Milpitas and have been serving at the San Leandro campus since 2024. Because of my love for the Bible, the focus of my ministry is helping brothers and sisters understand and obey God’s Word so that we will not drift away amid the turmoil and unbiblical influences of the world. I have led many Bible study groups and recently finished teaching a course on the Old Testament Survey. I am currently teaching a New Testament Survey course at the San Leandro campus. I have also served as the coach of the Brick Group (a life group for international college students) in Milpitas campus for 12 years.
