匯點教會門徒訓練系統實踐成功的元素(三)區牧牽頭

「他們經過「流淚谷」,叫這谷變為泉源之地; 且有秋雨之福蓋滿了全谷。」(詩篇‬ ‭84:6‬節)

我曾分享到,門徒訓練系統的成功,最重要的是區牧必須擁抱這異象,區牧必須作領導的角色。如果區牧是從零開始去建立門訓系統,就需要從系統中的NBC開始、之後是DNA及LC門徒領袖組,區牧都需要親力親為地起來先作領導,透過跟牧區內的成員建立關係,從而更深地認識每一位組員,尋找出具備上一篇文章所提到擁有「四心」(忠心、獻心、關心和虛心)的人。亦即是說,過程必須要附上一段時間和努力。在此階段不同的門訓小組也需要區牧親自來帶領,工作量會隨着小組的發展而不斷加增,這是建立門訓初期必須要經歷的一個艱苦進程。當領袖組的門徒接受一段時間的裝備至漸趨成熟時,區牧可以揀選出有能力、有素質及願意起來承擔的門徒,一步步地把塑造門徒的工作下放給他們,例如他們可以幫忙帶領NBC和DNA組等,直至有一天他們可以建立自己的LC領袖組。

區牧需要知道,當你在牧區中揀選合適的人接受訓練、成為最親密的門徒時,是不能假手於人,必須要親自投身、親自作領導,好使你的生命能夠在親密關係中成為跟從者的榜樣、感染他們;另外,透過緊密的接觸,你能觀察和評估他們是否合適的人選,成為他日塑造門徒的人。因此,建立門訓的初期是最艱難的,但隨着成熟的領袖出現,分擔門訓的帶領工作、甚至開始建立自己的門訓小組時,收成期便指日可待了。

所以,我把區牧領導門訓系統的時間分為四個階段:

  • 第一個階段是「墾荒期」- 同時設立牧區的三級門訓組;又或是區牧從零開始,設立初信成長班、接着18個月的DNA組,在一年的時間後才能有機會揀選領袖組的門徒。
  • 第二個階段是「苦幹期」,正如我剛才的分享,區牧需要附上很多時間,親身帶領多個不同的小組,工作量繁多、必定會相當辛勞。
  • 而第三個階段是「穩定期」,門徒領袖會隨着門訓的發展而逐步出現,能協助分擔塑造門徒的工作。
  • 而最後一個階段則是「收成期」,區牧只需要專注於自己的領袖組,其他領袖組內 的成員能幫助承擔起區內的門訓帶領工作,並且循環發展出自己新的領袖組和門訓生態圈。

所以,我不厭其煩地再一次提醒各位區牧,要經歷這四個階段是艱辛的,但當你走過這流淚谷之後,就要叫這谷變為泉源之地; 且有秋雨之福蓋滿了全谷。這個「谷」正是你的牧區。

容旭輝傳道出生於香港,八十年代中期移居美國加州。青少年時他非常熱衷參與教會,但成年後卻漸漸成了一個叛逆的無神論者。然而上帝向他混亂和空虛的生活發出了榮耀光芒,這讓他的一切都被徹底改變了。他將自己視為跨中西文化和社區之間的橋樑,盼望自己的經歷和領受能祝福周圍的人特別是下一代,並帶領他們認識神。

容傳道在十八歲那年開始為聯邦快遞工作,三十歲時他告別了唯一收入的工作,成為了 De Anza College最年長的學生。在進入聖何塞州立大學後,他涉足了電腦技術領域。之後,在 2008 年的經濟市場崩塌期間,神徹底改變了他的生活。神奇妙的帶領下2010年在天道福音中心結識了太太Christina,婚後育有一女兒容智恩。之後應神呼召在西方神學院進修取得碩士學位並開始全職在教會的事奉。在經歷了癌症的死蔭幽谷之後他更深刻體會、珍惜並立志勤做主工,迫切傳福音。

他非常喜歡戶外運動,旅遊、最喜歡吃墨西哥菜,玩動作 MMORPG,看動漫,享受可以和妻子女兒在一起的時光。他還是個實打實的孩子王。

We will begin a new community service at Milpitas on 8/11 Thursday morning 9am-12pm. Every other Thursday, Second Harvest will set up a Food Delivery Hub for people unable to drive to the church. Volunteers will pick up the food and deliver it to their homes. Pray for smooth operation.

1. Pray for God’s guidance on how we can reach more young people and young families to our church. Pray that God will move in people’s heart and call people to help plan for this ministry.
2. Pray for our life group leaders that they would have love, joy and patience in leading their life groups. Pray that brothers and sisters in Christ would see the importance of Christian fellowship and be able to find the right group for themselves.
3. Pray for Pastor Paul Sin who has experienced a double vision in the past week and his doctor was not able to find the cause. Pray that God will look after His servant and nothing serious would happen to him.
4. Pray for our facility team and worship team members as some of them have plans for getting out of town in the coming weeks. We have experienced a shortage of manpower in summer time. Pray that God will give us the wisdom to resolve the issue of manpower shortage.
5. Pray for our spiritual growth that we will understand God’s Word and learn to practice biblical truth in our daily life.

Elements of Successful Discipleship Practice in Crosspoint’s Church (2) – Leadership of Zone Pastor

“As they pass through the Valley of Baka, they make it a place of springs, the autumn rains also cover it with pools.” (Psalm 84:6)

I have previously shared that the most important thing for the success of a discipleship system is that the zone pastor must embrace the vision and be the first person to take on the leadership role in the zone. Starting from scratch to build up this system, he or she has to begin with the NBC, followed by the DNA and the LC. Therefore, the zone pastor must first take the lead in leadership, and through building relationships with the members of the zone, we can get to know each member more deeply and look for the right people who have the “Four Elements” (Faithful, Available, Relational, Teachable) mentioned in the previous article. The process will take a period of time. At the beginning of the first year, the NBC group will be developed, followed by the DNA, and then, after about a year, the leader cell will emerge. At the same time, new NBCs will be developed on a cyclical basis. At this stage, different levels of discipleship groups have to be led by the zone pastor, and the workload will increase with the development of new groups. This is a demanding process during the birthing stage of the discipleship system. When the disciples of the leader cell have been equipped for a period of time and have become mature, the zone pastor can select capable and qualified disciples who are willing to rise up and take on the responsibility and delegate the disciple-making duty to them step by step, such as helping to lead the NBC and DNA groups. One day, they will begin leading their own LCs, birthing a new ecology under each disciple’s network.

The zone pastor needs to know that when you are selecting the right people in the zone to be trained and become the closest disciples, you cannot leave these people to others, but must be personally involved so that your life can be an example to them. In addition, through the continuous close contact, you can observe and evaluate whether they are suitable to be the ones who are capable to shape other disciples in the future. This initial period of establishing a discipleship is the most difficult one. However, as mature leaders emerge to share the workload of discipling others, the joy of harvest is just around the corner.

Therefore, I divide the timeline for establishing a zone’s discipleship system into four stages:

  • The first stage is the “Birthing Period”, where we set up all three-level discipleship groups in the zone; or the zone pastor starts from zero, sets up the NBC for new believers, followed by an 18-month DNA group, and only after a year can he or she have the opportunity to select disciples for his leaders cell.
  • The second stage is the “Laboring Period”. As I have just shared, the zone pastor needs to spend a lot of time to lead many different groups in person, which is a lot of work and time demanding.
  • The third stage is “Growing Period”, where leaders emerge gradually as the discipleship develops and can help share in the work of shaping other new disciples.
  • The last stage is the “Harvest Period” where the zone pastor only needs to focus on his/her own leaders’ cell and the leaders’ cell members can help take on the works of the discipleship and develop new groups on a cyclical basis.

I sincerely remind all zone pastors once again that it is a difficult process to go through all these four stages. Yet, after you have gone through this valley of tears, you will make this valley a place of spring; and the blessing of the autumn rain will cover the whole valley. This “valley” is, realistically, your own pastoral zone.

Milpitas part time family pastor Sam Yung has applied to our full time position. We have posted his biography in our weekly bulletin. If you have any objection to his hiring, please write to Pastor Ting Leung directly by 6/12

Sam was born in Hong Kong and moved to South Bay, California, in the mid-80s. During his youth, he was an eager Church attendee. As a young adult, however, Sam became an outspoken atheist. Then God spoke light into Sam’s life of chaos and void, and everything changed. He experienced life in Silicon Valley before and after the Asian immigration boom. Sam sees himself as a bridge between cultures and communities, and he wants to dedicate his life experience to leading the next generation into knowing king Jesus.

Sam started working for Federal Express the month he turned 18, and then at 30, he said goodbye to the only job he had known and became the oldest student in De Anza College. After attending San Jose State, he dabbled in the technology field. Then, during the housing market crash of 2008, God overhauled his life again for His Kingdom’s purpose, which includes giving Sam a chance to attend Western Seminary. 

Sam’s favorite things include; eating Mexican food, playing action MMORPGs, watching anime, and playing with his daughter.
