Children’s Ministry Coordinator/Director(2024.02)

Job Description:  The general nature of the assignment shall be: Work in conjunction with Campus Pastor (Milpitas Campus), Family Pastors and Children’s Ministry Administrative Coordinator pertinent to all duties and tasks related to Children’s Ministry.

  • A Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Christian or General Education or Child Development.  
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, coordinate and care for a large staff of leaders, teachers and helpers.
  • Experience in the development and/or selection of class curriculum across multiple age groups.
  • Able to converse in English.  Cantonese and Mandarin would be a plus but not compulsory.
  • The title of “Director” applies to a Seminary graduate with a Master’s degree concentrated in Children/Education majors.

  • Competent in leadership abilities to include organization, delegation, administration and interpersonal relationships.
  • Ability to work well with parents, volunteers, church staff and children.



  • Coordinate preschool/elementary Kids’ Worships and Kids’ Small Groups on designated worship days.  
  • In coordination with the Children’s Ministry Administrative Coordinator, help facilitate the safety process (applications, background checks, etc.) for the recruitment of leaders and volunteers.
  • Develop, or select, and implement a comprehensive program of Christian development and education for children beginning at birth and continuing through elementary Grade children.
  • Work with Children’s Ministry leaders and parents to ensure programs are tailored for the specific needs of each age group and/or language.
  • Select an CM curriculum and ensure that its use at each level of spiritual development connects to the next level (including transition to youth program).  Assist in designing and preparing teaching and kid’s life group materials.
  • Regularly communicate with CM ministry teams and parents to develop a clear partnership in the children’s discipleship and spiritual formation.
  • Develop an outreach program to ensure that families in the surrounding area (within 20 miles radius) become familiar with our church’s children’s programs.
  • Work with the Campus Pastor, Family Pastors and Ministry Leaders and with the Children’s Ministry Administrative Coordinator in setting policies and procedures for the children’s ministry. 
  • Work with Campus Pastor, Family Pastors and Ministry Leaders to recruit leaders and volunteers for ministry positions in the children’s ministries to include Sunday School, Nursery Helpers, Kid’s Life Group, VBS, and other ministries as they are identified and developed.
  • Lead in the evaluation of the Children’s ministry on a regular basis with all Children’s ministry leaders and Campus Pastor.
  • Along with the Campus Pastors, provide leadership and shepherding for children’s ministry leaders and volunteers.
  • Recruit, train, and nurture volunteers for Sunday morning and other programs.
  • Work in conjunction with Children Administrative Coordinator and Campus Pastor in providing and managing the annual budget for the Children’s Ministry.
  • Actively conduct volunteer and staff meetings.
  • Work with the related Zone Pastor to care for and follow up with new families.  Understand volunteers’ needs and report to Campus Pastor of their spiritual and ministry concerns.
